New contact, no aerial faults. New aerial picture

This is a photograph sent to me by Dave M5AFD.
He ran this aerial for years before upgrading to a 3 element Stepp ir.
I am off to pick it up in the next week or so and use it as it is or even modify it to a 20 meter quad.
Whichever way you look at it its a real bonus.

Today I was trying to sort out the problem with my 2 element quad and half size G5RV but it didn't stop snowing. I shook the snow off both aerials and tried them across the bands. They both worked fine, in fact I even had a contact in to the Ukraine on the quad. His name was Yuri, UR7EP and we had a quick QSO which was 5/9 both ways and then I moved on.
Would you believe it ? ! ? ! ? Both aerials working fine ?
Well that's radio for you.
Anyway I shall probably get a couple of hours air time tomorrow so more tests then.
